Summer in Voss have all kinds of activities on offer, from adrenalin filled activities like a tandem skydive to easy hiking routes in beautiful surroundings.
Hiking season starts late-June, and the options are almost endless. You can go for a more challenging route to a top with views of the fjord landscape or an easier hike on a mountain plateau. Voss is one of the gateways to the Stølsheimen Nature Preserve where you can walk from cabin to cabin.
There are several easy and moderate cycle tours starting in the town center. Rent a bicycle at Voss Hostel and take a tour around the lake or cycle the country road past 4 small lakes to the Tvindefossen waterfall. If you fancy a longer ride, take the train to Finse and cycle the Rallarvegen back to Voss.
In spring, our famous rivers are at its best, and all visitors should consider a day out white water rafting or kayaking. If you are not that into getting wet, this is also the best season to enjoy the beautiful waterfalls around town.
As long as the weather is on our side it is possible to try a tandem skydive or tandem paragliding every day throughout the summer season. If the weather is not on our side, flying in the wind tunnel is a great option. In the wind tunnel you will experience being weightless, and a basic package of 3 minutes equals 4 free falls from a plane at 12 000 feet! Flying, be it skydive, paragliding or in a wind tunnel, will definitely get your heart pumping.
To get some cultural refill while visiting, visit Voss Folk Museum with the old farmstead “Mølstertunet”. The medieval Vangskyrkja church in the middle of the town centre is also worth a visit.
Located between the two fjords Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord, it is easy to visit and explore the fjords while staying in Voss. Contact Voss Tourist Information to find out more about the tours “Norway in the Nutshell” to the Sognefjord and the similar “Hardanger in a Nutshell” to see the Hardangerfjord.
